The day I started asking AI before eating!!
A weeks days ago , I noticed I’d developed a new habit. Whenever I picked up a packaged food item in a supermarket , I no longer looked only at the front of the packet. I took out my phone .. clicked a photograph and asked AI:
– can you explain these ingredients in simple english?
– anything here I should be concerned about as you know what I am allergic to?
– does it contain pure stuff or only % of it
Somewhere along the way I realised something , I wasn’t searching anymore .. I was consulting.
E.g. , one day , I picked up a pack of baked wafers.
The front proudly said: “Baked, Not Fried.”
It sounded healthy until AI walked me through the fine print. It explained ingredients like maltodextrin , flavour enhancers , acidity regulators and stabilisers .. not as scary chemicals but by answering three simple questions:
– why is it there?
– is it safe?
– how much should I worry about it?
I still bought the wafers. But this time it was an informed decision rather than a marketing-driven one.
Another day , it was packaged coconut water. The label looked clean .. but I was curious. I asked AI to compare it with fresh coconut water.
It explained that “while many packaged coconut waters are simply pasteurised and retain much of their natural nutrition , some variants may include added sugar , flavouring or preservatives depending on the brand. Also , pasteurisation can slightly reduce certain heat sensitive nutrients”.
It didn’t tell me to stop drinking it .. it simply helped me understand what I was buying.
Aahhh!! that’s when it struck me. For years , food labels were written for regulators.
– tiny fonts.
– scientific names.
– percentages.
Most of us glanced at calories and moved on. Today , AI translates all of that into plain English .. It explained .. It compared .. It even challenges the claims printed on the package.
It’s that it has quietly changed my behaviour. I buy fewer products impulsively. I spend more time understanding ingredients. Sometimes , I even put the product back .. not because AI told me to but because it helped me make a better-informed decision.
And now I realised .. this isn’t really about food. Tomorrow, I’ll do the same with:
– medicines
– cosmetics
– insurance policies
– financial products etc.
Perhaps this is how AI will quietly change our lives. Not through dramatic breakthroughs but through thousands of tiny decisions made a little better every day.
Because the biggest impact of hashtag#ArtificialIntelligence may not be writing code or generating images .. it may simply be helping us make better everyday choices.
And maybe that’s where the real intelligence lies.
hashtag#AI is no longer just changing how we work .. it’s quietly changing how we live.
Until next time .. happy thinking !!
