Man + Machine + Intelligence = Digital Trust leading to “New Normal”
I remember growing up being told one thing very clearly : “Don’t trust strangers.”
It was simple. It was instinctive. It shaped how we navigated the world .. and yet today… we do the exact opposite.
– we buy from people we’ve never met.
– we travel with drivers we don’t know.
– we eat food cooked in kitchens we’ve never seen.
– we let service professionals into our homes without hesitation.
Think about it. We trust:
Amazon .. based on reviews and ratings
Uber, Ola, Rapido .. without knowing the driver
Swiggy, Zomato .. without seeing the kitchen and trusting the delivery boy
Blinkit, Zepto, BigBasket .. for perishable groceries
Urban Company, Snabbit .. for services inside our homes
This is not accidental .. this is “𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁” and it is built on a simple but powerful equation:
Man + Machine + Intelligence .. where ..
– “Man” brings participation with millions of users reviewing, rating, transacting
– “Machine” brings consistency in platforms ensuring standardisation, tracking, visibility and
– “Intelligence” brings interpretation using algorithms surfacing what to trust, what to avoid, what to choose
Individually, none of this is enough .. together, they create something new. Aparallel trust economy. You don’t trust the person individually but you trust the system. And over time , this trust becomes invisible .. It becomes default.
It becomes — “a new normal”
Now let’s add AI into this equation. Trust is no longer just collective. It is now becoming personal.
– recommendations are tailored.
– risk signals are individualised.
– experiences are curated.
Which means the next layer of digital trust won’t just be: “Can this be trusted?”
It will be:
– “Can this be trusted… for me?”
This is a fundamental shift.
From: general trust –> personalised trust
From: Institutional trust –> Algorithmic trust
We often talk about AI in terms of capability. But its most powerful impact may lie elsewhere. In how it reshapes trust itself.
Cause once trust changes .. behaviour follows.
When behaviour changes at scale .. a new normal is created.
Until next time , happy thinking !!
